Just for a slight variation, the exhibition this year was held in Hall 5 instead of Hall 1. Very easy access this time around,
unload at the door, onto our trusty 2 wheel trucks and in we go. We were assisted by Doug and RobertM for the unloading and
setup and by 8.30 we were ready. Matt had a few bits and pieces to check out before public opening at 9.30 for ticket holders
but very quickly sorted.
This is one of those exhibitions that really does cater to every conceivable railway modeller, regardless of scale, gauge or era they model.
Everything from 'Z' gauge to Gauge 1 live steam and almost everything in between. With almost 150 traders, there was plenty of opportunity
for a bargain, if you looked carefully, on almost everything imagineable.
With Electronic Arts permission and approval we had 100 copies of the EA Rail Simulator Demo on CD to give away over the weekend AND a preview
copy of the American release of EA Rail Simulator showing the 'Cajon Pass' Route and Union Pacific locos and stock. Matt had also downloaded
and installed some additional locos and stock from the download library and also from emails received overnight.
During the course of the day we had many visitors to see the stand and discuss simulation in general. Many wanted to know if their
particular machine would run the EA Rail Simulator, others wanting to discuss installing downloads, others for a free MSTS CD.
It did get hectic at times, occasionally 4 or 5 deep right round the stand, almost to the point where late saturday evening somebody
commented that other demo stands were being blocked by visitors looking at the UKTS screens.
Our thanks as always to the UKTS members who turn up to help run the demonstration stand and chat with the crew, their were quite a few:
dkightley, RobertM, easilyconfused, ashgray, dinmore, mpeffers, RSTim, RSDerek, RSAdam, king125, damian2, trainlover123, partyspritz,
westerninvader, garthion, eddief, alan2, amigaairwolf and probably more that I neglected to remember.
Our thanks to Nick Tilston (Demonstrations Coordinator) and to the Warley MRC for the invitation, the refreshments and making us welcome.
Our final thanks to all the members who helped carry the kit out at the end of the exhibition on Sunday evening, THANKS.
2008 is our year off having attended 2006 and 2007 but I am sure we will return at a later date.
REMEMBER, REMEMBER - the 2008 Warley Exhibition will be held on 22nd / 23rd November 2008, slightly earlier than usual.
