Exhibition Report

Aldershot 8th/9th October 2005

Our third invitation from the Farnham & District MRC brought us to the Connaught Leisure Centre in Aldershot for an excellent weekend. Located in the foyer by the public entrance we were difficult to miss.
Unfortunately the Exhibition Manager, Paul Martin, had only just been released from hospital and was unable to attend the exhibition. Noel Lever, his deputy, ensured that everything ran smoothly over the weekend. Get well soon Paul.

Saturday saw Mole259, trains2, 47522, 250787, ccsdc and daughter, champy, phillic and other UKTS members at the stand, some demonstrating, some chatting. Nice to see you all. Sunday we were joined by LAD491, Mole259, trains2, 47522 and other UKTS members to help demonstrate and chat. Berlin S_Bahn had its first airing as did Waterloo - Southampton.
ccsdc brought along an almost completed Dorset Coast Version 2 and it looks amazing. This is looking good for a December release, nicely timed for Christmas.

Some members of the visiting public could not believe that we were showing Microsoft Train Simulator, "mine looks nothing like that!". Others were convinced that we were showing MSTS2 or a completely different simulator. Others had not heard of MSTS. All went away with renewed interest, piles of notes and CD's.

A very good exhibition with plenty of variety in layouts, traders and demonstrations.
Of special interest was the fact that there were 3 layouts over 40 feet long. Rock Springs, an American layout in 3.5mm Scale; Weydon Road, GWR outline in 7mm scale and Alton, by far the biggest at 58 feet long in 4mm scale. A VERY large layout indeed.

Thank you to the UKTS Members who came and joined us to demonstrate and to chat, great to see you all again.
Our thanks to Farnham & District MRC for the invitation and refreshments and a good location. We look forward to seeing you all again next year. Who knows we may have new simulators to demonstrate in full by then.
