Exhibition Report

Sheredes School, Hoddesdon

10th July 2004

We were approached at the Greenford Exhibition by Joe and Pauline Lock, the organisers of the Sheredes School Exhibition and we were pleased to accept the invitation. Although this exhibition is in a school, Joe and Pauline use every available room, nook and cranny to fill it to capacity. With a total of 45 layouts and stands they did an outstanding job.

The layouts were an excellent cross-section of the standard gauges and trade support was well balanced with a first class selection of all aspects of railway modelling.

The UKTS stand in full flow. Toot Hill, a totally fictitious HO gauge layout. Ayling Island, OO Finescale layout from my local club in Stowmarket. Hollies End, 7mm Narrow Gauge.

We were very well located in the drama studio along the back wall. We shared the studio with a three other very interesting and varied layouts. Wildschonau an Austrian Narrow Guage layout; Stump City an American Logging layout in HOn3 that was semi-automatic and Odsen Ends a OO guage layout built from Odds and Ends.

Also present at the exhibition was a layout Ayling Island from my local club, Stommarket Railway Club.

Eastgate, OO gauge BR Blue era. Buntingford in N gauge. Buntingford in N gauge. East Lear Depot in 4mm.

Visitors to our stand, including the local Mayor, were impressed with the capabilities of Train Simulation and the variety of routes, locos and rolling stock on display. Routes displayed included - Blackpool Tramway, Skipton 1920, MidEast, Cannock Chase, Bala Hub, North West England and Talyllyn. Cab-It gave away a large number of leaflets, instruction sheets and a number of CD's, much to the amazement and grateful thanks of the visitors.

Wistow, an exercise in minimum space O gauge. Wistow, an exercise in minimum space O gauge. Stump City, American logging layout, superb detail. Stump City, American logging layout, superb detail.

Despite the shortage of operators we still managed to put on a good show and found time to get around and look at all the excellent layouts and trade stands there.
