Our first visit to the Leamington & Warwick MRS Exhibition held at Myton School, Myton Road, Warwick.
Officially opened on the Saturday at 10.00am by Pete Waterman. We were located in a classroom adjacent
to the Main Entrance with the Railway Correspondence and Travel Society (RCTS). Plenty of room to
spread out and provide a few chairs for visitors to sit and watch.
We were very pleased to welcome a number of UKTS members as demonstrators - Mark Miller and his mate,
trainmad and fairlie, 250787 and Digman, and visitors to the stand who enjoyed chatting about all things
TrainSim and TramSim - Doug Kightley, jp4712 (Paul). Doug and Paul spent a couple of hours pouring over
the two new tramsims on Pauls laptop - NET and Metrolink.
Routes demonstrated included the latest Beta version of Yorkshire Coast, MidEast, Skipton 1920, Bala Hub,
SMJ, Blackpool Tramway, Cannock Chase, North West England, Cambrian, Woodhead, Alston, Bridge Line,
Severn Valley Railway, Surfliner and a short run for the new Steam Loco Sim SpoorSim. Also seen running on
Alston was Digman's new Class 101 DMU. Trainmad and Fairlie also briefly demonstrated the Midland Railway
Butterly route.
The exhibition was well balanced with a good selection of layouts in a variety of scales including one
layout in 1:48 scale (1/4inch to the foot), everything scratchbuilt. A good variety of traders were also
in attendance providing just about everything modellers could want from Tools, electrics, scratchbuilding
parts to box shifters (new and secondhand in UK and American outline).
Our thanks to members who assisted us during the exhibition by demonstrating and to the
visitors who dropped by for a chat.
We would like to thank the Leamington & Warwick MRS for the invitation to the exhibition and for the
refreshments and warm welcome we received. We look forward to seeing you next year.
