Exhibition Report

Leatherhead 2003

ThinLizzy, Connex, Decapod and Leviathan1949 Decapod and Leviathan1949 Leviathan1949 A wider shot of the stand, I guess i'm gonna get as much mickey taken out of me for my bald spot from Cameron as I took out my Dad many moons ago, oh well, what goes around comes around :)

After the previous two exhibitions at Doncaster and Brighton Model World it was a breath of fresh air to be in a much smaller local exhibition again. There's always a very different air around the different sized exhibitions - the local ones are always a lot more friendly and personable (not that the larger ones don't try to be, but with so many exhibitors and trade stands they don't have much time for each one).

We arrived at Leatherhead a few minutes before the doors were opened and they took us to where we were going to be situated - a fantastic location in an enclosed area that was quite large and exclusively for us to use. This meant that even when the crowds came we weren't blocking any aisles up and the enclosed nature of it meant the screens were clearly visible.

This was also the first exhibition that Martin Ford (Deltic9000) has come along to help, looks like he's going to be a regular (and very welcome!) demonstrator.

Leaflets and information out and ready for the taking Myself and Leviathan1949 at the controls, Raildrivers in the middle incase any one wants a go :) A wider shot of Dad and I at the controls

There was a lot of interest from many people, as usual a bunch of UKTS members showed up to say hi and take a look at the stand and a lot of members of the public were very interested in what we were showing.

Another fairly well known name who was able to come and help out at this exhibition was Decapod (aka Paul Gausden) who is well known for some of his rolling stock, superb utilities and also his work helping Saddletank with the Highworth Branch route.

One surprise was that the guy in the stand next to ours (just outside the room we were in) is responsible for organising the Warley exhibition - and on Sunday he had a chat and said he'd be getting an invitation out to us very soon to get us to Warley as well - superb news.

Raildrivers and Business Cards with the site URL on them for people to take away and remember us RailDriver console, always one that gets a lot of questions asked about it!

We also received an invitation to the Eastbourne exhibition, this one has a special place in Dads heart as it is where he grew up and is actually in the school he went to oh so many years ago (heehee).

Another very good exhibition with lots of great feedback from the crowd and superbly run by the organisers - thanks to them and to everyone else that gave their support.
