Notes for
Exhibition Managers

Who are we?

UKTrainSim is a community of enthusiasts (over 60,000) whose interest in railways varies from Full size (Current and Preserved) through narrow gauge, via Model Engineering and Model Railways into Computer Simulation of Railways. To foster and engender an interest in Railways we can offer to Exhibition Managers a train simulation demonstration stand for your exhibition.

What do we demonstrate?

Microsoft Train Simulator - The real world simulation

  • Terraforming - Landscaping and building
  • Route Building - Track planning and laying
  • Activity Creation - Writing the timetable
  • Driving - Keeping to the timetable

The actual world location, locos and rolling stock we demonstrate is geared to the exhibition. Eg. For a European specific exhibition we demonstrate European locations and rolling stock; for a generic exhibition we can demonstrate UK, USA and European. You tell us what you want to see, we demonstrate it.

From January 2007 - A DCC Workshop

What else do we offer?

Firstly we are NOT a trade stand and although we have a membership subscription, we would NOT be selling anything from our stand. We try to bring along TrainSim exclusives from our community of members, with their permission. We try to drum up support from publishers and aim to give out free CD's to visitors of the various locos and rolling stock that we demonstrate on the day.

We normally require a minimum frontage of 12 feet to demonstrate on 3 screens. For smaller exhibitions we can limit that frontage to 8 feet and demonstrate on 2 screens. The depth required where possible up to 10 feet, the more depth the larger the demonstration screens. We would also request that our screens not be in direct sunlight or directed overhead spotlights. We use 6 tables and 6 chairs for equipment and require 1 off 13 Amp Power outlet.

At what cost?

We make no charge for travelling expenses, all we ask is that we be provided with free beverages (tea or coffee) and meals during the exhibition for up to 6 operators.A charge of 30 per day will be made where beverages and meals are NOT provided.
